What are we looking for? Enthusiastic, motivated staff who believe in the value of outdoor learning. You should be aged 21 or over and have a broad experience of Field Studies and Outdoor Activities. Ideally, you should already be working, or have worked in a Centre and have some relevant teaching experience. It is highly desirable to hold a degree in a relevant subject and skills or instructional qualifications in any land-based activity is advantageous, particularly Skiing, Rock Climbing, or Snowboarding. However, you may have a range of outdoor activities and teaching experience, but no formal instructional qualifications. It is highly desirable you hold a D1 or PCV categories for driving minibuses. Alternatively, it is essential that you have a full driving licence held for two years and are able to pass the PCV medical.
Our conditions take a lot of beating, look at this:
Tutors work Monday to Friday, plus up to 14 weekends per annum. The normal teaching day is from 9am to 5.30pm plus two evenings per week, either teaching or acting in a pastoral role working with a Residential Course. Thanks to our TOIL (Time off in lieu) system, this averages out to a 37hr week.
During the initial training months as a probationary tutor you will be paid in the salary range £13,224 to £14,448 per annum (pay award pending).
Subject to satisfactory performance and on completion of your probationary year opportunities may be available to apply for posts in the salary range £14,1586 to £16,416 per annum (pay award pending).
Time off in lieu is given for each working weekend, and a 50% enhancement of pay for weekends and 100% enhancement for any bank holidays worked, typically adding another £500 to annual earnings.
Paid holiday entitlement is 24 days per year plus bank holidays
