Activity Leaders

Company: EJO
Location: Locations throughout the UK
Benefits: £190 - £245 per week + full board + accommodation in residential centres
Start: End of June/Early July
Duration: 2 - 7 weeks

Description
Enthusiasm and flexibility are key criteria for activity leaders working with EJO.

The leisure programme is an important part of the stay and provides teachers with the opportunity to establish a rapport with their students outside the classroom environment. Teachers are therefore expected to be as committed to the social programme as they are to the tuition programme.

The following information is given as a guideline only (individual course details will be discussed during interview):

Non-residential courses:

Activity leaders supervise the leisure programme on two afternoons and one evening per week and on two full-day excursions per week. Leaders also assist on some mornings each week with the planning of the leisure programme and preparing afternoon activity sessions.

Residential courses:

Residential activity staff are required to work the equivalent of a 6-day week (12 sessions). A full programme of activities/excursions is arranged, including evenings and weekends, which is supervised by resident staff. All positions also involve supervisory duties on a rota basis.

Most activities are booked and planned in advance. These include a variety of sports, tournaments, art & craft workshops (including T-shirt painting and hair braiding), talent shows, circus skills workshops, karaoke, quizzes, games and competitions. Other sessions may involve escorting students to a local leisure centre for swimming, bowling or skating or to local places of interest. We also welcome ideas from staff for additional activities, particularly on residential programmes. Excursions will be to London and other places of interest within a reasonable traveling distance of the centre.

All residential positions include full-board accommodation.

Requirements
Ideally we are looking for candidates with a sports or art related degree or working towards one. Candidates must have lots of initiative, enthusiasm, energy, flexibility and creativity, have an affinity with young people, the ability to work as part of a team and have strong leadership and people skills. We are particularly interested in qualified life guards and/or first aiders.
