Featured vacancies include everything from trainee instructor programmes to jobs for activity instructors, group leaders, senior instructors, team leaders, programme managers and centre managers. Outdoor centres are predominantly located in rural areas so accommodation is often provided as a subsidised option for live-in staff. In recent years there has been a significant growth in urban adventure opportunities with an increasing number of indoor climbing centres, zip wires, ropes courses and aerial adventures.

Outdoor instructor jobs often require candidates to have a certain level of experience alongside accredited qualifications such as national governing body teaching awards, e.g. RYA for sailing and windsurfing.
